We MOVED! - Renovation Before & After
Hello, friends!
(Wow, it feels weird to be typing that again, but we're so glad you're here)!
This has been such a wild year for everyone, and we've been pretty silent on the blog front for awhile, so we wanted to pop in and show you what we've been up to here in Colorado.
The biggest news? WE MOVED!
With the wedding industry taking such a big hit during this pandemic, we were lucky enough to have our boutique to help shoulder some of the custom order loss. But fans of our original space will know that we were tucked just off the main street of downtown Golden and the foot traffic just wasn't there.
We weren't quite ready to give up on this little card shop though.
So when an opportunity to move to the main drag this September opened up, we took a leap, signed a lease and dove head first into renovating our new space. Yep, you read that right - we strapped on our knee pads, grabbed our hammers, and got to work!
Prior to our move, the space was well loved, but outdated. In its over 140 year history it's been an opera house, a drug store, a five and dime, a candy shop and a hardware store, to name a few. So we wanted to bring over the airy, modern brightness of our old location while keeping some of the historic charm.
(Seriously, come check out the original pressed tin ceiling, it's awesome).
We spent our October pulling up old carpeting, repainting every wall, installing new flooring, redoing the trim and painting some more. Then, wagon load by wagon load, we brought over our inventory and furniture from around the corner, hung up our card shelves and opened for business!
(Okay, it was a little more involved than that but you get it).
It was such a nice break from the monotony of 2020 to have a real project to put our energy behind. And we are so grateful and proud to finally open our doors back up to you at 1212 Washington Avenue!
Thank you so much for your support and patience during this trying year. We're so happy to still be here and none of this would have been possible without our amazing customers. (Seriously, thank you.) And we can't wait to help you spread some holiday cheer this season!
Keep shopping small, local and early! We will all get through this together.
