USPS & Shipping FAQs

·

Hello, friends!

Another year has come and gone for Marrygrams Cards & Gifts.

And what a whirlwind 2021 has been thus far! Wedding season has returned full force and our retail boutique is flourishing in our new location, all thanks to the support of customers just like you. (Seriously, thank you.) ❤️

But with holiday season quickly approaching, we felt it necessary to give everyone a few gentle reminders about ordering online and shipping for the remainder of the year.

While it may seem in some ways like the worst bits of the past 2 years are behind us - it's important to remember that we are very much still in the thick of things. This becomes even more essential as holiday season looms ever closer.

Supply chains are backed up, makers are facing material shortages and many shops are still severely understaffed. Add the unpredictability of the USPS to this mix and you've got a pretty hectic mix of obstacles your packages need to make it through in order to arrive.

HOWEVER - there is no need to fear!

With proper planning, patience, and a few tips & tricks - we can all continue to support the small online shops we love - and receive our goodies in the timeline we're expecting.

And, as always, thank you so much for shopping small. Whether you're here for stationery and cards for your wedding day - or shopping the boutique for a unique birthday gift for your bestie - we couldn't do this without you.

USPS & Shipping FAQs

Where do you ship from?

We ship daily Mon-Fri from our brick and mortar in downtown Golden, Colorado.

** If you are in the Denver area, you can always select "In Store Pick-Up" in checkout. **

I live in *insert town here*, how long will it take my package to get here?

Honest answer? We have no idea.

However - we pride ourselves on getting your goodies out the door as quickly as possible. Most of our orders leave the studio within 1-2 business days of purchase. (longer for custom items, or items waiting for customer approval or additional information).

My wedding is in 2 weeks (or less) do I need a shipping upgrade?

YES!

If you are within 2 weeks of your wedding date you MUST select a shipping upgrade to receive in time. We have seen far too many customers "risking it" only to have their goods arrive after the wedding or need-by date.

It is far less expensive to upgrade your shipping than to not be able to use your products at all.

What's the difference between First Class, Priority, and Express?

First Class Mail
- takes anywhere from 4-14 business days to arrive (on average)
- NOT guaranteed
- this is our FREE standard shipping option for orders of $40+

Priority Mail
-takes 2-3 business days to arrive (on average)
-NOT guaranteed
- if you are 2 weeks from your wedding date, this should be your default option

Express Mail
- takes 1-2 business days to arrive (on average)
- guaranteed by the USPS (sort of, they make this very hard)
- if you are 1 week from your wedding date, this is the ONLY option

But the "Estimated Delivery Date" says....

It is important to remember that an estimate is only an ESTIMATE. Those numbers are set by AI algorithms and the seller has no control over what is displayed.

We get it - it's tempting to see the estimated date and think that you'll be fine. And you might be. But that is a risk you have to assume responsibility for as the consumer.

It is ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. Especially this year. PLEASE - upgrade your shipping. It's worth it.

(in the EXPRESS 1 day shipment pictured below - the package arrived a full 2 days past the estimated delivery date - NO level of service is immune to these delays right now).

My tracking says "Delivered" but my package isn't here? What should I do?

9 times out of 10 - your package is in your neighbor's mailbox. We have seen this happen so many times and within 1-3 days of that initial delivery notification, the package usually turns up.

Your first step in this scenario should always be to reach out to your immediate neighbors and local USPS, as they would be the ones with the best information to help you. We request that you wait at least 2-4 days before reaching out to us about a reshipment, as these things usually work themselves out on their own.

However, if your package truly is nowhere to be found please let us know. We will work out a reshipment or refund on a case by case basis.

My tracking says "Delayed Arriving Late" but I really need these items ASAP - What should I do?

If you are in a time crunch and the USPS has no additional information on your package, we recommend reordering WITH a shipping upgrade. Then, when the original package arrives (and it WILL arrive) you can return it for a full product refund. *custom work excluded*

You should also sign up for the text/email notifications in your original tracking email - as sometimes this helps push things along the system a bit quicker.

(in the photo example below you can see tracking that had a 10 day gap from the 15th - 25th before it updated and started moving again. THIS IS NORMAL right now. It doesn't mean your package is lost - it's just taking the scenic route).

I received my package after my wedding date and can no longer use the items - What should I do?

The easiest way to avoid this is to purchase a shipping upgrade the first time around! 😉 However if your date has passed and you don't have a friend to gift your cards -- you can return your products in the original condition to the return address on the shipping label.

PLEASE NOTE - this does NOT include custom work! If we personalized or customized any products for you we cannot accept them as returns. This is why it is so important that you choose the right shipping at the beginning.

I believe my items are LOST - what should I do?

Contrary to popular opinion - things don't actually get lost in the mail that often. But they absolutely do get DELAYED (once we had a package arrive 5 months after it shipped - these things are rare but they do happen)!

**See the above "Delayed Arriving Late" question**

(in the example pictured below, the customer thought the package was lost after the tracking stopped updating - you'll notice after a week of no movement, it was back on track to be delivered. Again, this is NORMAL for packages right now).

I need to change my address - what should I do?

If you need to change your address please reach out ASAP! We ship most orders within 1-2 business days so your window of change is very small. As long as you let us know BEFORE your order ships we can make that adjustment.

Always double check your address before you checkout and you'll be good to go!

After reading this list I'm worried my packages won't arrive!

We promise it's not all doom and gloom. The vast majority of our packages are shipped and delivered without incident. This is even more true when you select a shipping service that actually fits your needs!

Just give yourself plenty of time (or be prepared to pay a little extra for an upgrade) and everything will be just fine.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

And, as always, please be patient with makers during this busiest of seasons. When you shop from a small business you are supporting the dreams of real people and communities. We are not Amazon (and that's a good thing). Each order is packaged with love, attention and extreme care. And that's worth the wait any day of the week.

Thank you for shopping small! 💌
